Types of Chemical Peels
Superficial Peels
The mildest type of chemical peel that can be used on all skin types.
Medium Peels
Penetrate the skin more deeply than superficial peels, causing the skin to experience a second-degree burn.
Deep Peels
Several layers of skin are penetrated with a deep peel, also causing a second-degree burn. In most cases, a deep peel can be done only once and is to be used only on the face.
Results & Recovery
The length of time for recovery will vary, depending on the type of peel the patient receives. The amount of redness, dryness, and flakiness that may develop after treatment is also dependent upon the type of peel used. These side effects are normal and will steadily disappear.
