Thighplasty In Gainesville, FL

A thigh reduction, also known as a thigh lift or thighplasty, is a surgical cosmetic procedure designed to remove excess skin and fat from the thigh area, creating a contoured, proportional lower body. Dr. David Mateo de Acosta will carefully shape the remaining skin around your thighs. Depending on the patient, Dr. David Mateo de Acosta can even reduce the appearance of stretch marks or create a thigh gap during this process.

The patient is left with smoother skin and reduced chafing, for increased body comfort and confidence. Contact us today to schedule a free consultation.

Thighplasty Frequently Asked Questions

Ideal candidates for a thighplasty include:

  • Patients with loose thigh skin that does not change after exercise
  • Patients who lost significant weight, leaving loose skin on the thighs
  • Patients with controlled medical conditions that are safe for anesthesia
  • Patients who are undergoing other body contouring operations, such as breast lifts, arm lifts, or tummy tucks

A thighplasty can improve hygiene, confidence, and comfort in patients who recently experienced a massive weight loss. If you are seeking a more toned physique, thigh reduction may be right for you.

On the day of your thighplasty, you will arrive at our AAAASF-certified surgery center. Here, Dr. David Mateo de Acosta will apply the surgical markings that will serve as a guide for thigh skin reduction. Before the procedure, you will also receive intravenous and tumescent anesthesia for your comfort and peace of mind.

Despite the incisions, minimal scarring is left behind. Dr. David Mateo de Acosta carefully places the incisions under underwear or bikini lines, ensuring that they are hidden from sight. Small, thin tubes will be placed in the incisions to drain excess fluid.

You will awake in the recovery room with a compression garment on. You will also have a drain in each of your thighs that will be removed in about one to two weeks.

Keep the compression garment on for 48 hours following the procedure. You can shower and replace the garment on the second postoperative day.

A thighplasty is an outpatient procedure, meaning patients return home the day of the surgery. Patients are required to wear a compression garment throughout the day and night for the first four weeks following the procedure to minimize swelling. Dr. David Mateo de Acosta also recommends patients sleep with their legs elevated on pillows for two weeks. This position helps with swelling and promotes healing.

The day after your procedure, you will be asked to return to the facility for a follow-up appointment with Dr. David Mateo de Acosta to address any questions or concerns you may have.  With consistent healthy eating and exercise, patients should be able to enjoy their new thighs for years to come.
