Dr. John & Cheryl Tyrone

Dr. John W. Tyrone, a board-certified plastic and aesthetic surgeon, and his wife Cheryl established North Florida Plastic Surgery in 2007. As a Florida native, Dr. Tyrone earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of Florida in 1990 and graduated from the University of South Florida’s medical school in the top quarter of his class. He completed extensive surgical training, including a fellowship in Plastic Surgery at Emory University, and has over 14 years of education and training beyond his undergraduate degree. Specializing in cosmetic surgery of the body, breast, and face, Dr. Tyrone has been recognized as Gainesville’s “Best Plastic Surgeon” for eight consecutive years. Cheryl Tyrone plays a vital role in the practice as the facility manager, contributing to its reputation for high-quality services and patient-centered care.

Dr. David Mateo

Dr. David Mateo de Acosta Andino is a board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon specializing in cosmetic procedures such as breast enhancement, body contouring, and skin removal after weight loss. Originally from Havana, Cuba, he earned his medical degree from La Salle University in Mexico City and completed advanced surgical training at the University of Illinois and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. With over 12 years of surgical experience and fluency in English and Spanish, Dr. Mateo is dedicated to providing personalized, compassionate care that helps patients achieve their aesthetic goals with natural and satisfying results.

Kris, Aesthetic Manager

Kris joined North Florida Plastic Surgery & Aesthetic Center in 2021, bringing with her over 20 years of experience in the plastic surgery and aesthetics field. As our Aesthetics Manager, she is dedicated to ensuring that every patient receives the highest level of care and personalized treatment to achieve natural, beautiful results.

Kris is passionate about the power of aesthetics in boosting self-confidence. She chose this career path because she understands how transformative self-care and aesthetic procedures can be in helping individuals feel their best. She believes that what sets our practice apart is our conservative approach—focusing on enhancing each patient’s natural beauty rather than drastically altering their appearance.

With her extensive experience and commitment to patient satisfaction, Kris works closely with our team to create seamless experiences that prioritize comfort, safety, and outstanding outcomes.

Kate, PA-C

Kate is a highly skilled and board-certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) who joined The Aesthetics Center at North Florida Plastic Surgery in 2020. With her extensive experience in aesthetics medicine, Kate is dedicated to providing her patients with top-quality care and personalized attention. She graduated from the University of Florida’s Physician Assistant program, where she was also the American Academy of Physician Assistants Representative. During her clinical year, Kate focused on surgery and dermatology, where she gained valuable experience and learned from some of the top providers in Florida.

Since becoming a Physician Assistant, Kate has worked exclusively in cosmetic surgery, and she has a genuine passion for helping her patients look and feel their best. She is committed to continuing her education and staying up-to-date on the latest techniques and technologies in aesthetic medicine. In her free time, Kate enjoys spending time with her husband and two huskies, fishing, and cheering on the Gators and Ravens.

Linda, CME

Linda Barrett is a medical aesthetician with over four decades of experience. She has a strong reputation for her caring approach and her ability to provide personalized treatments that help her patients look and feel their best. Linda’s specialties include chemical peels, facials, and a variety of other skincare treatments that are designed to rejuvenate and enhance the skin.

As an important member of Dr. Tyrone’s team, Linda has a wealth of knowledge and experience in cosmetic surgery and post-operative care. She specializes in developing customized skincare regimens that help patients recover from surgery and achieve optimal results. Linda’s commitment to her patients and her passion for her work make her an invaluable asset to Dr. Tyrone’s practice and a trusted provider of top-quality skin care services.

Taylor, Medical Aesthetician

Taylor has been a valued member of North Florida Plastic Surgery & Aesthetic Center since 2020 and brings over 11 years of experience in the aesthetics field. As a medical esthetician, she is passionate about helping patients fall in love with their skin again by providing treatments that deliver real, transformative results.

Her passion for skincare was deeply influenced by her mother’s battle with skin cancer. Witnessing firsthand the importance of skin health and proper care, Taylor was inspired to pursue a career where she could educate and help others protect and restore their skin.

With a warm and results-driven approach, Taylor is committed to providing expert care and personalized treatment plans that help patients achieve their skincare goals.

Sarah, Medical Aesthetician, CME, LSO

With over five years of aesthetic experience, Sarah has been a trusted Medical Esthetician and Laser Technician at NFPS since 2020. Her passion lies in helping her patients boost their confidence and enhance their natural beauty through personalized treatments. Sarah believes what truly sets our office apart is the seamless integration of surgical and aesthetic care, ensuring that patients receive comprehensive support before, during, and after their procedures. Her focus on patient-centered, personalized care ensures every visit is a transformative experience.

Kaley, RN, Patient Coordinator

aley, our patient coordinator and RN, has been a fundamental part of our team since 2020. With over nine years of nursing experience, including five years specializing in plastic surgery, Kaley brings both expertise and compassion to every patient interaction. She has a particular passion for Dr. Tyrone’s breast augmentation and rhinoplasty procedures, which she believes can truly transform patients’ confidence. Kaley’s approach to patient care is rooted in treating everyone like family, always prioritizing their well-being while sharing her wealth of knowledge to ensure they feel informed and supported every step of the way.

Robin, RN

Robin is a registered nurse who joined our team at North Florida Plastic Surgery in 2012. She works closely with Dr. Tyrone in the operating room, assisting him with patient care during surgical procedures. When she isn’t working, Robin enjoys traveling with her children and grandchildren.

Biunka, CT

Biunka is a surgical technician who joined our practice in 2018. With nearly a decade of experience working as a surgical technologist in the field of plastic surgery, Biunka is an essential member of our team and provides unparalleled patient care. From assisting during surgery to providing post-operative care, Biunka helps our patients every step of the way. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her family and traveling.

Viola, CT

Viola Sims is a highly experienced surgical technologist at North Florida Plastic Surgery. With over 15 years of experience in plastic surgery, Viola is a skilled and dedicated member of our team. She joined our practice in 2019 and is an integral part of our surgical team. Following her clinical rotations in school, she loves witnessing the transformations that our patients see and feel. When she is not at work, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her children.

Tierney, Marketing Manager

Tierney has been an integral part of North Florida Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics since 2015. Throughout the years, she has worn many hats, starting as a receptionist and medical assistant before transitioning to our aesthetic center as a Certified CoolSculpting Technician. Now, as our Marketing Manager, she brings her deep understanding of patient care and practice operations to ensure our services reach those looking to feel their best.

As a mother of two, Tierney’s favorite procedure is the Mommy Makeover. Having had the transformation herself, she understands firsthand how this procedure can restore not just the body, but also confidence and self-esteem. She is passionate about sharing her experience and helping other moms feel empowered in their own journeys.
